Beijing and the Great Wall

While in Beijing I took a day trip to see the wall, something that I will never regret. The wall is quite far from the city, maybe four hours one way. It takes a whole big day from very early in the morning to late at night, what you can really call an excursion.

I was quite surprise when I saw that the graphic display from Windows is very similar to the real think. Layers of mountains that dissolve far into the distance.

I made friends during that excursion, a lovely family from Toronto. We spent hours on the top of the wall discussing philosophy. I guess the wall simply does this to you.

A touching detail; at the foot of the wall sculpted into the bricks, the names of all the people who worked, lived and perished making the wall.

Quite impossible to describe, such a monumental structure, and quite unforgettable.

As far as you can see, wall, more wall, mountains and trees, and a fears wind from the north west (Mongolia is just up there).
