Calgary is Canada's Cultural Capital for 2012. Thanks to public online voting, the 31st Scouts have been awarded a $1200 "Grassroots Inspired Grant" in support of our 31st Scout Hall 100th Anniversary Celebrations Sept. 10 -15/12.
A Typical Cottage School c. 1910 -12. The 31st Scout Hall – originally opened in 1912 as the Capitol Hill Cottage School – is 1 of only 3 remaining examples out of the 17 cottage schools built between 1910 - 12.
Calgary's 31st has been operating continuously since 1952. 2012 marked the Group's 60th Anniversary and the 100th Anniversary of its' Scout Hall building, first opened in 1912 as the Capitol Hill Cottage School. It's been leased by the 31st from the City since 1961.
