A simple decision in rotating the slicing axis from vertical to horizontal allowed this design to achieve a higher respect to nature, as humans identify with a treestump more than a treated 2 x 6. The concentric circles, indicative of a tree's life, is also complementary towards the design's impact in comparison to traditional wood flooring.
