Two massive stars racing in orbit around each other have had their colliding stellar winds X-rayed for the first time. Stellar winds, pushed away from a massive star’s surface by its intense light, can have a profound influence on their environment.
I love the etherial quality of this shot. View past the north west aspect of George Hine House (facing south west), The Towers Hospital, Leicester. Leicester Borough Lunatic Asylum opened in 1869, later becoming Leicester City Mental Hospital. It became Towers Hospital in 1948. The site is being gradually closed and developed into residential property. I had access to the areas photographed as my office was based on the site.
