The Bloody Mary
Country Boy Old Fashioned: 1-3 sugar cubes, 2 dashes Angostura bitters, 1 cherry (without stem), 1 half orange slice, 2 oz Jim Beam Bourbon, Splash of seltzer, lemon-lime soda or ginger ale. Place first four ingredients in an old fashioned glass and muddle until sugar is dissolved. Add cracked ice and pour in bourbon. Top with a splash of seltzer, lemon lime soda or ginger ale; stir gently. Garnish with a fresh slice of orange.
Woodford Manhattan: 2 oz Woodford Reserve Bourbon, 1 oz Martini & Rossi Sweet Vermouth, 3 dashes Angostura bitters, 1 maraschino cherry. Combine all ingredients in a shaker filled with ice; stir vigorously. Strain into a martini glass and drop in a maraschino cherry.
Sazerak: ½ oz Rough Rider Double Casked Straight Bourbon Whisky, 1 dash aromatic bitters, 1 sugar cube, 1 sliver of lemon peel. Combine first three ingredients in a shaker filled with ice. Shake and strain into a rocks glass and garnish with a sliver of lemon peel.
Bacon Old Fashioned: 1 ½ oz Knob Creek Bourbon, 3 tsp brown sugar simple syrup, 3 dashes orange bitters, 1 strip candied bacon. Cut the bacon strip in half. Chop one half into small pieces. Combine bacon pieces, simple syrup and bitters in a shaker filled with ice. Shake and double strain into a lowball glass filled with fresh ice. Add bourbon, stir gently. Garnish with remaining bacon strip.
2 oz Bird Dog Kentucky Bourbon 10 Year Old: 1 splash club soda, 4 dashes Angostura Bitters, 1 tsp sugar, 2 maraschino cherries, 2 orange wheels. In a rocks glass, muddle club soda, bitters, sugar, one orange wheel and one cherry. Remove orange wheel, fill with ice and add bourbon. Garnish with remaining orange wheel and cherry.
FIRE UP THE GRILL: ½ oz Jim Beam Black, ¼ oz Jim Beam Kentucky Fire, 4 oz cola, 1 quarter fresh orange, Orange slice or lime wheel, Mint leaves (optional). In a rocks glass filled halfway with ice, combine first two ingredients. Fill with cola and squeeze a quarter orange into the drink. Garnish with a slice of orange or lime. Add mint leaves if desired.
Barrel-Aged Manhattan: 2 750-mL bottles Larceny Bourbon, 7 oz sweet vermouth, 2 oz The Bitter Truth Aromatic Bitters, 2-L charred oak barrel. Combine first three ingredients in a large pitcher and pour into the barrel. Allow to rest for 5-7 weeks, then pour the liquid into glass bottles until ready to serve.
Think you don’t like bourbon? Add a little sweetness with maple and a ruby port to embody the flavors of a crisp fall night. Second Circle: : 2 oz Wild Turkey Bourbon, 1 oz ruby port, 1 tsp maple syrup, 1 maraschino cherry - Combine first three ingredients in a shaker filled with ice. Shake and strain into rocks glass filled with fresh ice. Garnish with maraschino cherry.
