Day 61 of #susanveggiegarden. The potted plants took a beating from the rain over the last few day. The tall grass in the pot was blown over by the strong winds and a number of smaller plants are wilted. The pansies seen okay but the marigolds are pathetic. This petunia is okayish. Oh the ups and downs of a garden.
Day 58 of #susanveggiegarden. The kale and habanero pepper transplants before the big downpour. Hope they did not get ruined. Still gathering rocks to put against the fence and still need to weed but after the caterpillars go. To be honest I have not seen more than five in the area but that number is enough to keep me away.
Day 57 of #susanveggiegarden. A look at the garden. Will be placing rocks along the curved edge of the grass. Plants coming along nicely. Lots of weeds but will take care of those after the caterpillars are gone! Stones are markers for plants. Still need to plant in the east end of garden. Rays of sun so ethereal.
Day 56 of #susanveggiegarden. Big day with transplanting plants from their mini-greenhouses, 11 hot peppers and 8 kale. Four kale seedlings did not make it. Then planted green onions, yellow onions and white onions. Also sowed more peas as the first batch did not make it. Planted peppermint and spinach in separate pots (actually the spinach is in a spare fridge veggie tray). The lettuce are 7 days old but the picture looks gross. I used potting soil and a plastic tray and left the tray…
Day 55 of #susanveggiegarden. Moka drinks the water from my celery plant. Has made a habit of drinking from it as well as from her bowl. That cat! It's wet outside so did not do active gardening. Met a friend at the post office who told me she enjoys my gardening posts so much.
Day 54 of Planted cherry tomatoes in a topsy turvy planter, a gadget from As Seen On TV. The tomato plant comes out from the base. Had help from hubby, and could look at it from my kitchen window. Very neat if it does work out.
Day 50 of #susanveggiegarden is a super busy one. Transplanted tomatoes, chili peppers and egg plant. Six of each. Not sure why the eggplants are not in a straight line like the rest :-(. The garden still needs a lot of work but raking the dry roots was not possible due to the rain. It would have been a lot easier to use weedicide but I want a chemical free garden. Planted spinach in the planter under the pine tree to the front of the house, along with pink petunias in the same planter…
