Nanking Atrocities

In 1937, the Japanese Imperial Army invaded the city of Nanking and killed 300,000 civilians and unarmed soldiers, and raped 60,000 women. The policy was "burn all, loot all, kill all". Many Japanese history textbooks today are still whitewashing and denying the atrocities committed. Why are we not learning about these atrocities? What can we do to move towards peace and reconciliation?
