Do you believe that what you do today impacts your health down the road? I believe this. It is why I try my best (80-20), to make healthy choices. Epigenetic factors such as diet and exercise make a huge difference in long term health. So my challenge to all of us is to pick one healthy habit and focus on it tomorrow, and the next day and once it truly has formed into a habit, to build upon that. One habit at a time. Have you been reflecting? One of the best ways to check in with how you are feeling is to journal. It can help to be outside, perhaps after a walk. Nature is very soothing and grounding. How will you remember this time that is changing our lives? When we think back to other truly 'life altering' moments in history many of which were many decades ago, we were much younger or not even born. I have decided to start writing in a journal. I want to record the feelings, the experiences of how our daily lives have changed and the way our communities are rallying together to make things like masks and to show gratitude for our healthcare and front line workers. Is your house messier than normal? I'm trying to let go of the need to have the toys off the floor. Because look at what they have created!?!? What I have learned from the experience of kindergarten is that there is ALOT of learning through play... So. I just have to let it go. What have you had to let go of? What is your biggest challenge today? Chances are there is someone in your life who can help you. We may be physically distancing, but emotionally we have the opportunity to stay connected and support one another in this time. But you have to speak up. Let someone know you need them.
