Huge part of the appeal of Rhymers/Mummers is clowning - family-friendly, timeless comedy.
At the end of the day, Rhymers are clowns - not serious musicians or actors or poets, but clowns - dressed as a merry pack of fools. The world needs a good laugh - and people to laugh at!
So to get dressed up as we do & deliver the songs & scripts in this style, shows that we cherish this aspect of the tradition - long may it continue
