You might be a parent if the words “snow day” fill you with anxiety rather than childlike joy. As a kid, when you hear those magical words, your eyes twinkle. As a young adult, your eyes blink indifferently. As a parent*, your eyes bulge as you think, “Ah man, what am I supposed to do with my kid now?!” #newdad #blog #parenting #kids #babies #dad #snowdaze

I’d love to teach my Son patience, but he’s just too young right now. All he does is cry louder and look away from me. Wait… he’ll do that when he’s older too, won’t he? Ah crap!

If they can make “No Tears” shampoo, then WHY ISN’T ALL OF IT THAT WAY? Adults: Do you enjoy crying that much? #newdad #blog #dad #parenting #kids #babydontcry

There's a phenomenon I call "Cry Bullying", which basically means they weep and wail violently until you feel that you would give them all your lunch money/anything they want for a moment's peace... #newdad #blog #parenting #babies #kids #dads #crybullying #beingbusysucks

My Son is oblivious to the existence of America, the concept of democracy, and, in effect, nearly everyone but himself. We’re currently working on developing his self-awareness, but we’ve stalled out at “Hey, I’ve got feet. I really like my feet.” He really does, to the point of hilarity... #newdad #parenting #blog #kids #babies #USAUSAUSA #dads

Kids say the darndest things, or so Bill Cosby would have us believe. Perhaps one day our little one will say darnd things. For now, he just blows bubbles and interchangeably laughs/cries. Actually, he is starting to make a broader range of sounds now, and it’s fun to mimic what he does in hopes that he will start to mimic what we do… fun, of course, until he starts to mimic what we do unintentionally... #newdad #blog #parenting #kids #babies #kidssaythedarndestthings #dads

“Pretty much everything babies do is weird, but it’s not unusual.” These are the words of wisdom a good friend of mine recently shared with me in response to my telling him that seemingly out of the blue my Son would no longer allow me to feed him. Ever since he was about a month old I’d given him (on average) a bottle a day, and rarely with any protestation, but last week he became convinced that I was no longer qualified for this task... #newdad #blog #parenting #kids
