Green Books for Kids. If The World Were A Village, by David J. Smith, offers another perspective on our global community by travelling with kids through the every day life of people living in 100 different “villages” throughout the world. The book raises the great opportunity to chat about resources and social justice issues.

Alberta Social Studies Grade 2 Culture and Traditions. Created by Janet Smith and Heather Connolly. We had the children pick one of the three focus communities and write key words and draw pictures about it. The pictures directly related to culture and traditions. We then had them use sharpie to draw their pictures and include their keywords on styrofoam blocks. We used white glue to construct an inuksuk.
