LD256s set into the planter walls on this project provide a glow of light to every other step leading up into the generous garden. Muhly Grass. This caught my attention on one of my visits to Yates Mill Park. I really liked the color and texture! A perennial, ornamental grass native to the southern United States with thin narrow foliage topped in the fall, by the blooms which look like pink or purple puffy clouds. The blooms persist until freezing weather arrives. This grass is drought-tolerant once it is established, but it also tolerates wet soil.

Even smaller grasses have been eaten by the groundhog. The larger grasses, such as the one here, have been more successful. Pictured: Gulf muhly, Pink muhly grass, Punk hair grass Latin name: Muhlenbergia capillaris Zone
