Tahini / Nutritional Yeast Flake Recipes
These vegan foods all use tahini, nutritional yeast flakes, or both.
Fake-Out Cheese Sauce vegan, makes 5 cups 3/4 cup nutritional yeast flakes 1 can cannellini beans, drained (about 1 1/2 cups) 2-3 Tbsp tamari (replaces added salt) 1 tsp garlic powder 1 1/2 Tbsp mustard powder 1 Tbsp Dijon mustard 1/4 tsp fine pepper 1 cup mashed sweet potato OR 1/2 cup instant mashed potato (unflavored) + 1/2 cup water *see note below 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
Almond Cheese 1/3 cup raw almonds 1 1/2 cups water, divided 3 tbsp cornstarch 3 tbsp fresh lime juice 2 tbsp nutritional yeast flakes 1/2 tbsp curry powder 1 tsp garlic powder 1 tsp onion powder 3/4 tsp sea salt 1/4 cup cooked winter squash or sweet potato (pumpkin would okay but I would add a little honey to make up for the lack of sweetness) 2-3 dashes of hot pepper sauce
