Bernini - Proserpina and Pluto. When this sculpture was unveiled they had to take measures to protect it because people couldn't stop touching it. The flesh of the two characters is so life like. Bernini was 25 when he sculpted this.

The 'colossal' marble bust of Napoleon (b. 15 August 1769) by Canova, possibly 1803-06. Canova kept it in his bedroom in Rome until his death in 1822, after which Anne, Marchioness of Abercorn acquired it, leaving it to the 6th Duke of Devonshire in her will. The bust remains at Chatsworth exactly where the 6th Duke had it placed, in the centre of the Sculpture Gallery there.

Michelangelo - Moses is an imposing figure – he is nearly eight feet high sitting down! He has enormous muscular arms and an angry, intense look in his eyes. Under his arms he carries the tablets of the law – the stones inscribed with the Ten Commandments that he has just received from God on Mt. Sinai.

Eros and Psyche by Antonio Canova -- Envious and jealous of the beauty of a mortal girl named Psyche, Venus asks her son Cupid (known to the Greeks as Eros) to use his golden arrows while Psyche sleeps, so that when she awakens, Venus (Aphrodite in the Greek tradition) would place a vile creature for her to fall in love with.
