Prada Celebrates Wes Anderson ‘Grand’ Collaboration With Berlin Display
Prada luggage for The Grand Budapest Hotel's Madame D., with a wooden frame wrapped in soft leather to create a vintage effect, in oak and natural tones lined in peach pink cotton, and similar pieces, in black, designed for M. Gustave. The suitcases were given additional touches by artist Mieke Casal, who painted the initials of the character Mdm. C.V.D.u.T (Madame Céline Villeneuve Desgoffe und Taxis) on the leather in typical 20s style.
Costume sketches from The Grand Budapest Hotel, Milena Canonero. While Canonero designed the clothes herself, she enlisted some top-notch backup—Prada manufactured Joplin’s (Willem Dafoe) leather trench, and Fendi contributed its signature mink embellishments to Tilda Swinton’s Klimt-inspired thirties coat. The result is looks that seamlessly bring the viewer into the pastel-colored (albeit imaginary) land of the Eastern European Republic of Zubrowka during the interwar period.
