Hemochromatosis

Hemochromatosis is an inherited disease in which the body absorbs too much iron from the diet which then accumulates in the body’s tissues and organs. The iron can also accumulate in the joints, testicles, ovaries and sometimes in the endocrine glands. Hemochromatosis can be easily treated if it is diagnosed early, before the excess iron has caused irreversible damage. Left untreated, this disorder can cause serious damage to the liver, heart and pancreas. - More info to follow
