Italians love their staycations. Every August, without fail, much of the country shuts down and hits the beach or mountains. Restaurants close, entire offices turn on their autoreply messages, and the nation breathes — normally together, as the only thing Italians love doing more than spending August in a sun lounger is spending it in an Italian sun lounger.
