April is National Poetry Month (although I think we should be reading poems year-round) and I'm here with my favorite poetry books for kids in first and second grades. If the thought of reading (or worse yet... teaching) poetry is nauseating, I get you. Most of us can remember a time (likely in high school) when we were assigned poems that didn't make sense and then called out to interpret them in front of everyone, knowing we had no idea what they meant. Been there... but not anymore. Come see! Poetry, High School, Children, High, Favorite, Remember

We love these fun activities for Wemberly Worried. Honestly, we love all of Kevin Henkes' relatable characters... Lilly, Owen, Chrysanthemum, Julius, and, of course, Wemberly. Most kids can find themselves in at least one of his picture books, if not more. Making your own worry dolls is a fun way to follow up the read-aloud, but traditional worry dolls are small and a little challenging for tiny hands to make. We love this chunkier version that uses pipe cleaners and pony beads. Check it out!
