And Now for Something Different: Watercolors!

Sometimes it's easy to overlook a craft or art project because it's labeled for kids but going though all these new projects for The Crafty Crow has really gotten me itching to try a bunch of them. I think it's good to remember to experiment with new mediums and give those creative muscles a stretch every now and then, so when I saw the watercolor tutorial by Arounna I decided to jump right in along with my kids. You begin with a very abstract watercolor and after it has dried you go back…

Take your black paint, and make it quite watery. Using your paintbrush or an eyedropper drop in some paint at the bottom. Blow upward to form a trunk. Barbara's Cell - Under the Microscope

Under the Microscope began with a Google image search of the word Cell. There were soooo many images of human, animal, plant and I can't remember what else! I used my memory to create these not so real cells. I began cutting batting shapes for each cell followed by playing with fabrics that reminded me of the cell images. All the fabrics are raw edge (no fusible) and stitched by hand with # 8 perle cotton through the batting circle shape only. I had help from my husband and daughter to…

every single day.... Art journal page that was gessoed first. The page was the misted with rubbing alcohol and then alcohol inks dripped all over. Used a paint pen to add stars. New Colors from Rangers - Alcohol Inks

Fun news!!! Tim Holtz and Rangers have come out with six new alcohol ink colors! I received my set yesterday and went right to playing! Of course I used Yupo paper to work on. All pieces are 5" x 7". Above you see the new colors: amethyst, flamingo, and turquoise. Old colors used: shell pink and aqua. These colors seem to do a few things the older ones don't. At least for me they did. Look at that top blob of green on the left - looks like the bottom of a shoe - that was from one drop of…
