El lazo de boda: I love the lazo de boda. It's a Hispanic tradition. It's the tying of a rope (in the Infinity or figure 8 shape) around a couple after their vows are said. A prayer/blessing is then said. It represents the everlasting bonds unity of marriage (two becoming one) as well as the forever love (infinity shape) you'll have for each other. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wedding_cord I did it at my wedding and it was truly my favorite part of the ceremony.

unity sand ceremony ideas | Personalized Wedding Unity Sand Ceremony Set | ~Wedding Ideas!~

Personalized Sand Ceremony Set adds a memorable touch to the unity ceremony at the wedding. The bride and groom pour different colored sand into the sand ceremony set to symbolize their new marriage.

Love this idea for our ceremony!!!! We used a plant for our unity ceremony. The mothers each brought up a watering can representing each family and they watered the plant at the front of the room to represent the two families coming together and nuturing our relationship. Then, during the unity ceremony where the couple would normally light the big candle together, we watered the plant to represent us as individuals coming together to nuture our marriage.

I really like the idea of a tree planting ceremony instead of the boring old unity candle. The couple waters the tree, then takes it home and plants in their yard. Just as the plant grows, so too will their love grow with time. Either dirt or water.

Wine Ceremony - Unity Wine Both of you pour separate wines into one big glass, making it impossible to separate the two, and you each drink it! Awesome idea for a unity ceremony. So doing this!

Unity Idea; tying the knot; 3 different colored cords; middle cord represents God; cord on either side of the middle represents the bride groom; tie a knot with the bride groom's cords around the middle cord; two becoming one with God in the middle; tie a new knot every anniversary. A cord of 3 strands is not easily broken. Ecc. 4:12

Some wedding "unity" thing that is NOT sand. Literally tying the knot. They will knot it every anniversary.Lucy Parker Photography i like this idea
