Oklahoma City Winter Quilt Show

We had a great day for a trip to Oklahoma City yesterday, it was sunny and mild and we zipped down with little traffic - It's about a 2 1/2 hour drive from Wichita. The Oklahoma City Winter Show has lots of vendors and a small judged show. Although small, there were some really nice quilts entered. Several years ago I made a quilt featuring my cat Sam, it was called My Cat Sam and What He Dreams About at Night. In it, Sam was surrounded by pictures of birds, mice, fish and his sister Mrs. Meatloaf (he loved to chase her around). Once I finished his quilt, I realized that to be fair I needed to make one for Mrs. Meatloaf. Now, Mrs. Meatloaf was a very soft, affectionate kitty but she was definitely…

Cotton Quilts

My first love in quilting will always be the design and making of traditional quilts using cotton fabric. I use a variety of techniques including rotary cutting, fussy cutting by hand, hand piecing, machine piecing, paper piecing, and hand applique. I will always enjoy and prefer hand quilting the layers together. When I was writing my books, it was necessary because of time restraints to send out some of the tops for machine quilting. As I am a control freak, I've always regretted that…

2013

It's 2018 - and I finally got around to posting these quilts from when it all began in 2013. What a different five years makes! These early posts are not as detailed as I write them now - nor are these quilts quite as fancy ... but the important thing to remember is that they are finished and being enjoyed by someone. And that is what it's all about! Charm Pack Quilt / Lucy's Crab Shack 9 Patch Quilt / Good Fortune by Kate Spain 2 Yard Minky Quilt Coin and Friendship Braid Baby Quilts…
