Toronto, the capital of the province of Ontario, is a major Canadian city along Lake Ontario’s northwestern shore. It's a dynamic metropolis with a core of soaring skyscrapers, all dwarfed by the iconic, free-standing CN Tower. Toronto also has many green spaces, from the orderly oval of Queen’s Park to 400-acre High Park and its trails, sports facilities and zoo.

Newspaper articles called Toronto "the raccoon capital of the world." The raccoons really walk on the streets, around houses and they get into garbage bins. Raccoons get used to the city and they are like urban animals. Raccoons are smart, curious and agile. Frequently, they break into a house to live there. Especially, they would go into some kind of abandoned construction zones. You could find raccoons in the basement, crawl space, living room, inside walls of the house, on the ceiling...
A study is in the works that hopes to learn what areas of Toronto are most affected by raccoons and what factors may lead to more frequent encounters with the nocturnal carnivores.
