The French and Indian War was the British versus the French and Indians. They began to fight over the land in 1754 because each group wanted to own it. In 1763, they made a treaty and the war ended.

The French and Indian War was a huge war that broke out between Great Britain and France. It is also called the Seven Years' War. The French forced the Native Americans to become allies with them.

Samuel de Champlain explored the French claims in the New World in and returned with a large amount of valuable furs 1603. He realized that fur trading would be a valuable business, so one year later they established a settlement called Port Royal, Acadia, which today is called Annapolis, Nova Scotia. Henry Hudson discovered Hudson Bay, the largest bay in the world while looking for the Northwest Passage, an imaginary passage through North America that the British thought existed.
