All good things…. Sigh. Our amazing trip is now over. In the morning, I took the top pic from the window of our room in Paris, and while coming in for a landing in Edmonton, snapped the bottom- what a contrast!!! I’ll be back in the office starting on Tuesday the 23rd, so I’d you are interested is planning and booking an amazing trip like this one - don’t hesitate to reach out!

Last full day of our trip. Nothing planned but a dinner reservation, so we wandered around the left bank from the amazing location of our hotel room situated right in the heart of it all. After supper we were tired and full, and in no mood to go right to the Eiffel Tower, so we headed for the edge of the Seine - right in front of the Louvre. We had a beautiful view of the tower and watched as day turned to night and the lights on the Eiffel towers turned on.

Last full day of our trip. Nothing planned but a dinner reservation, so we wandered around the left bank from the amazing location of our hotel room situated right in the heart of it all. On the bus ride to Paris (the final one on our river cruise extension), we had a stop in Chartres. Arriving in time for lunch, we were seated just as Mass was being let out. It was a bit cool on the patio of this cafe, but we’ll worth it for the atmosphere (and the food was good too)! We were on our own for lunch in Saint Malo so we made ourselves a picnic! I got a small wheel of soft cheese, crackers and some escargot pate, my husband had a jam on-beurre sandwich and we grabbed two cokes and found ourselves a lovely spot just outside the ramparts on the rocks facing the sea. We people-watched and admired the pretty blue ocean. Don’t think you have to always have a traditional sit down lunch. Get some street food, find a quiet spot, and enjoy the view and the company!

Continuing on our bus tour, we ended up at Saint Malo. This was a an unexpectedly fantastic stop. I wasn’t expecting much from it but this was a really fun town. It is an island with a marina and still has the original fortified walls. Highly recommend for a seaside trip. Visited Etretat and saw the beautiful white cliffs aka the alabaster coast of Normandy. It was such a beautiful quaint town. We only had a 45 min stop here, but would have loved to stay longer. Had an AMAZING four course lunch at La Couronne in Rouen. It’s a beautiful half timbered historic building and was visited by Julia Child (who said it was the best meal she had in France!) It was an amazing meal, and I highly recommend! I absolutely love these Panorama Suites with Avalon, but sometimes the view is only so-so. We were docket at the port in Paris for one day and this was our view. Though in many ways we lucked out. Our room was is on the starboard side of the ship, but for those on the port side, you faced the room of another ship as we were double docked.
