I remember my grandma making this bread, it was always served with kapusta,(russian cabbage) or reuben sandwiches, or mainly as a dinner bread. It will go perfect with my russian sauerkraut and sausage dinner tonight!
This bread is also called Black Russian and is delicious! Try it with a ripe piece of Brie, as a sandwich, even fabulous French toast! Its origins came out of New York. Smells heavenly baking in the oven!

Black Forest Pumpernickel Bread (Bread Machine) - I love rye bread but never make it because it would go to waste with just me eating it. I had a girl’s night in with a few close friends and planned on having a reuben dip. This was perfect for the dip, the bread did come out a bit dry but I toasted it anyway for the dip.* It had a great flavor to it.
