I remember. my Mom would make this for birthday parties, we called it ham salad though it contained no ham. She'd use the hand-cranked meat grinder to grind some unsliced bologna and sweet pickles and then mix it with mayonnaise.
Another trip down memory lane for me. I grew up on this stuff! I especially love it on toast, and it has to be cut diagonally or it just doesn't taste right! And if you can't have toast, the next best thing is white bread.
