1 c. lard 2 c. sugar 2 eggs 1 c. buttermilk 1 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. vanilla 4 ½ c. flour (approx.) Combine all ingredients, mixing and adding enough flour until stiff, about 4 ½ cups, or until you can break a wooden spoon in the batter. (Oh, Gram!) Refrigerate dough until very cold. Roll out onto a floured surface, about ½ inch thick. Cut with a 2 inch cookie cutter, or a drinking glass dipped in flour. Bake 375 degrees, 10-12 minutes or until edges lightly browned.
