PINK WAFER // They’re a bit of a weirdo biscuit but I do have a soft spot for the ol’ pink wafer. They’re full of nostalgia for me - they remind me of visiting my great gran (my Nana McKenzie) as a kid. She was a feisty wee woman who loved Famous Grouse whisky and always had a stash of these in the cupboard. Plus they’re accidentally vegan which means I still get to have a sneaky nibble on their delightful grids.
The Black Grouse is a blended Highland scotch whisky. It is relatively inexpensive but a step up from The Famous Grouse with its very present but soft and smoky nose. The palate is smoky, too, but assertive.
