July 6, 1887: Charlotte “Lottie” Dod, fifteen, becomes the youngest-ever winner of a Wimbledon singles championship. A phenomenal all-around athlete, she will win Wimbledon four more times, win the 1904 British Ladies Amateur Golf Championship, and take home a silver medal in archery at the 1908 London Olympics. She also plays for Britain’s national field hockey team in 1899.
