The Greenbrier Bunker - Over the 30 years that it was an active facility, communications  equipment were updated, keeping it at full-operation status. The location of the facility, critical to its effectiveness, remained a secret for more than 3 decades. On 5/31/92, The Washington Post published an article which exposed the facility. A direct result, the U.S. government began de-commissioning The Bunker  ended the lease agreement with The Greenbrier in 1995.
