Sea of Stars, Vaadhoo Island, Maldives What may appear as a mirror image of the stars above, the bioluminescence in the water is actually due to marine microbes called phytoplankton. The effect it has on the shore is absolutely breathtaking
Extremely long exposure: Photographer Lincoln Harrison endures shoots in the wintry Australian outback to snare stunning images of star trails in the night sky. - I love these, they remind me of Aboriginal dot paintings but on the night sky
The Sword Of Orion ~ The Orion constellation is noticeable for three medium-bright stars in a short, straight row. These stars represent Orion’s Belt. If you look closely, you’ll notice a curved line of stars “hanging” from the three Belt stars.
There are 13 popular constellations in the zodiac. But these are just some of the star constellations astronomers use to divide the sky.
Hubble Finds Dusty Material Enveloping a Young Star
Hubble uncovers a vast, complex dust structure, about 150 billion miles across, enveloping the young star HR 4796A. A bright, narrow inner ring of dust is already known to encircle the star, based on much earlier Hubble images. This newly discovered huge dust structure around the system may have implications for what a yet-unseen planetary system looks like around the 8-million-year-old star. (Credits: NASA/ESA/G.
