The rock, displayed on a pedastal with ribbons of purple and violet traditional during lent, can evoke feelings of heaviness, and lifelessness, hinting perhaps at the deep places of the earth and the stone that sealed the Lord's tomb.

LENT: This could really signify the Lenten journey - adding stones each week to symbolize our own struggles; How stones can be transformed into roads.
