Open a doorway from a kitchen to the living room. Add an eating bar & stools.  You might need a supporting beam depending on the size & location of the wall opening.

The kitchen island is bookended with brick columns to create more storage space and dress up existing support posts that couldn’t be moved. I would have red brick wall though and maybe duck egg blue built in shelf.

Barnwood entry frame.   These people just applied it in the entry between two rooms!  I bet it is strictly decorative (not structural) but I just love the added character it gives to the space!

Like the colors and how open this is. Of course this is a bit out of my range, but the colors and the flooring are awesome.
