S.H. Walkup Papers, 1858-1876. This is a typed transcript of the diaries that Col. Samuel Hoey Walkup of Union County, NC, kept during the Civil War. Scroll down to "Contents List". The diaries are at the Wilson LIbrary (UNC-Chapel Hill). His letters to his wife, Minnie, are also at the library and they too have been digitized (same link). Diary: about 4 months are missing and possibly those loose pages are in a separate folder and have not been transcribed.

Dated January 1938, this photograph shows the Burnside House in Cincinnati, Ohio, in Hamilton County. The Burnside House was located on the block of East Ninth Street at 24 East Ninth, which is now the Public Library of Cincinnati. This three story red brick building was once General Burnside's headquarters during the Civil War. Ambrose Burnside was a Union Army General, as well as a politician, industrialist and an inventor.
