Recreations of Viking Age burials by re-enactment group Andrimners Hemtagare. These pictures are meant to illustrate what viking age graves MIGHT have looked like in Scandinavia at the time. They were originally taken to show their personal clothes, tools and utensils in preparation for a viking reenactment event.

This gives a great pattern for a pattern for a viking mans shirt that does not waste fabric.

Viking reenactment: a linen undergarment, a brown woolen dress with long sleeves, and an apron dress with silk decorations and metal posaments. Also a blue coat, a checkered shawl and a pair of needle bound mittens (dyed with yellow leek). On my head I'm wearing a silk veil, fastened to a linen cap with two needles. Everything is hand sewn with waxed linen thread. The jewelry is mainly Birka (as the rest of the outfit), but the large box brooch in front is based on a find from Gotland.

This is a faithful representation of the Mammen embroidery pattern (green background optional, but used to show the white border). This is one of the few authentic Viking embroidery archaeological finds. Hope it helps someone with Viking reenactment
