GRACE COSSINGTON SMITH (1892-1984), Australian artist. Painted interiors, still lifes, landscapes. Broke away from Australian impressionism. Was influential in bringing European inspired Post-Impressionism to Australia. Exhibited at the Royal Art Society of New South Wales, Grosvenor Gallery, etc.  Was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in 1973. Pictured: The Lacquer Room, 1935/6.
