Vikings:  Varangians were #Vikings who lived during the 9th - 11th centuries and who ruled the state of Rus. Philip Obermarck Brings us the mummified heart of a Norse giant. While going through his famous grandfather's belongings after his passing in 1937, violinist Lars Sigerson discovered this casket. It appears to Have Been Within his family for Hundreds of years. The inscriptiont is in old Norse runes and reads: "Behold! Within this casket lies the heart of the fierce and terrible giant Known as Hrungnir, This Day slain by Fafrd the Red Whose bravery and cunning shall live forever! Leave it to the Icelanders to have a Christmas monster more terrifying than the Krampus. Everyone, meet Grýla, an ogress that lives in a mountain-top lair who descends from said lair on Christmas to punish naughty children. And by “punish” I mean eat them - her favorite dish was a stew of naughty kids. When she’s not consuming children, she’s also the mother of the Yule Lads, a group of miscreants who in modern times have become the Icelandic version of Santa Claus.
