2nd Grade Poppies in Perspective
Second grade studied perspective to create these stunning poppy paintings. They first drew a horizon line on either light blue or light gray paper. Next, they painted red "lips" starting at the bottom with the largest and ending at the horizon line with the smallest. Once dry, they used black oil pastel to add the black centers. Well I hope everyone had an awesome Halloween...we sure did! Now for the next project...On November 11th we celebrate Remembrance Day in Canada and our art projects center on this theme. The poppy is a symbol of Remembrance Day in Canada and it is our focus for this project. The Flower Duet is a famous duet for sopranos, the Leo Delibes opera Lakme, which was first performed in 1883 in Paris. I used one of the mixed media flowers below for this weeks Illustration Friday challenge - Duet Most of the flowers are painted papers apart from the one I used for the challenge which was fabric. All have freehand machine embroidery.
