Killbear Provincial Park is a provincial park located on Georgian Bay in the Parry Sound District of Ontario, near the town of Nobel. Killbear combines sandy beaches typical of the Great Lakes with the rock ridges and pines of the Canadian Shield.

Sheffield-born F.H. Varley’s Stormy Weather, Georgian Bay was sketched on an island in the southern part of Georgian Bay, Ontario, where the Group of Seven’s first patron, Dr James MacCallum, had a summer cottage. The cottage is still there and so, miraculously, is what remains of the white pine in Varley’s painting.

Happy Sunday Morning Folks!  One of the most recognizable trees in all of #Ontario Canada.  This wind swept pine sits on the eastern shores of #GeorgianBay in #killbearprovincialpark. The years of constant abuse from pounding west / north west winds has driven the tree to grow in this unique fashion.  It portrays a sense of #strength #resilience and willingness to survive.
