Sichuan opera is a 300-year-old tradition portraying local legends. Percussion and wind instruments accompany the high pitched singing. Performances are staged nightly at the Shufengya Yun Teahouse in Chengdu, China.
In 2000 a previously unknown Shang Dynasty (1700-1100 BC) site was discovered in Chengdu, Sichuan, China. Thousands of artifacts uncovered in the excavations are now preserved at the Jinsha Site Museum.
