The Birds of St. Mary's, Newfoundland | The GypsyNesters

On the far southern tip of Newfoundland live so many birds it was actually shocking. Spectacular!... CONTINUE READING >>

Green Gables: Bringing My Childhood Imagination to Life | The GypsyNesters

Laura of Little House on the Prairie and Anne of Anne of Green Gables were my closest literary companions in childhood. There was something about these girls' feistiness and spirit that sparked "the scope of my imagination" - a bookwormish preteen girl who spent hour upon hour with her nose stuck in the pages of... Two Sainte Maries | The GypsyNesters

The phrase border town will not usually conjure up an image of anything remotely resembling the two Sault Sainte Maries (the Sault portion is pronounced Soo) that lie across from each other where Michigan's Upper Peninsula meets Ontario. There is a distinct lack of cacti, dust and adobe, but that's not to say there isn't plenty to provide for a different type of... Acadians, Canadians, and Cajuns | The GypsyNesters

There is something quintessentially southern about the Louisiana bayou country known as Acadiana, so it seemed strange that we would go north of the U. S. border to discover its roots and origins. The Cajuns' ancestry traces directly back to Canada's Maritime Provinces, so there was no better place to begin our investigation than in Nova Scotia at the Grand-Pré National Historic Site. It was along this coast on The Bay of Fundy that the first French settlers to come to the new world arrived…
