Rare bird - Yellowknife, North West Territories, 1975, DH XC8A Buffalo Air Cushion Landing Test aircraft; joint Canada- US trials, nose 451. This was a unique program where the modified Buffalo landed on ice, snow or water with an inflatable rubber air cushion under the belly and wing floats.
Canada CC-115 Buffalo. The de Havilland Canada DHC-5 Buffalo is a short takeoff and landing (STOL) utility transport, a turboprop aircraft developed from the earlier piston-powered DHC-4 Caribou. The aircraft has extraordinary STOL performance and is able to take off in distances much shorter than even light aircraft can manage.
