This is one of the easiest (and best) open-ended activities for kids. Your budding engineer will love figuring out what they can make from marshmallows and toothpicks!

You can use this kids activity idea for any time of the year, and kids love it! They come up with amazing marshmallow sculptures, and it's always interesting to see their unique creations.

Do you need to get your kids solving problems and explaining their thinking without looking for that one right answer? Try this set of Geometry math journals! Students work on these journal prompts independently, with a partner, or small groups. A majority of the prompts focus on open ended problem solving, so students will have multiple different answers. After solving the problem and showing their ideas, students learn the importance of being able to explain and justify their thinking.
