Cassia fistula, known as the golden shower tree. These flowers have deliciously fragrant flowers, rounded buds and are attractive to bees, butterflies and small birds, making it extremely showy when in bloom.
The Plumeria, is commonly called Frangipani, and includes 7-8 different species of flowering plants. It is a native flower to the country of Belize. The Plumiera flower, is named in honor of a French botanist Charles Plumier, who traveled to America and named many species of plants and animals. Moreover, the name “Frangipani” comes from Marquis Frangipani who invented a perfume for gloves and the scent of the flower has the resemblance to ‘Frangipani perfume’.
The red Hibiscus flower, is one of the most popular flowers found in Belize. You will find these in almost any garden, on any street, and in a pot on most porches here in Belize. They are the most sought after flowering plant in this country.
Red Ginger is just one of Belize's many tropical exotic flowers. They produce a showy red or pink flower with large, dark green, glossy leaves.
There are over 100 varieties of Poinsettias available. Though once only available in red, there are now Poinsettias in pink, white, yellow, purple, salmon, and multi-colors. They have names like 'Premium Picasso', 'Monet Twilight', 'Shimmer', and 'Surprise'.
Did You Know? The heliconia, like the bromeliad, can also be home to other living things. Water collects in the bracts of the straight stems, which provides a habitat for many species of tiny aquatic organisms. Many other animals depend on the heliconia as well. Hummingirds and butterflies like to drink the sweet nectar from the heliconia’s flowers.

Belize's national flower is the Black Orchid, one of over 100 varieties of orchids found in Belize. The flower is actually not black at all, but a purple, light yellow color. It is one of the few Orchids here, that flowers all year long.
The Bougainvillea is named after a French admiral in the French navy who discovered this tropical flower in 1768. It can be found in the tropical and subtropical parts of Belize, it climbs upwards to over 40 ft high and even over other plants, or trained to grow as a shrub. #Hopkins
Flamboyant tree is a tree renowned for its flamboyant leave display and hence its name. It's also known for its fern like leaves and is one of several trees referred to as flame tree.
