Allen Sapp 1928 - 2015

Allen Sapp, recipient of the Saskatchewan Award of Merit and member of the Order of Canada, was born in the winter of 1928 on the Red Pheasant Reserve in north central Saskatchewan. His Cree name is Kiskayetum (he perceives-it). He never learned to read or write but found refuge and satisfaction in drawing pictures. He is a descendant of legendary Cree leader Poundmaker. Sapp was 87 when he died in his sleep on December 28, 2015.
