In Japan,yellow raised grooved lines on sidewalks are a form of street braille to help the blind. Yellow lines are in all train station, no exceptions, and on major roads and small streets. Yellow tiles with linear ridges mean: walk in a straight line. Tiles with round bumps mean: turns, traffic intersections, stairs, etc. Traffic intersections have audio cues indicating when it's safe to cross.
