Fresh Fruits and Vegetables
When our Vegs and Fruit are fresh, they taste so good. Here are some to enjoy and pick up at your Farmers market.
Cherokee Purple Origin: Cherokee Nation, Tennessee, USA. Type: Beefsteak. Pre-1890 heirloom, open-pollinated variety with a unique purple-rose color. The flavor has been described as both sweet and smoky, and definitely rivals the Brandywine as my favorite tomato. Productive plants produce large crops of 8-16 oz. fruits.
Orange Russian 117: This is the first bicolor oxheart tomato we have seen, and it exhibits the best qualities of both types. Tomatoes weigh 8 ozs. or more and are heart-shaped with smooth golden flesh marbled inside with streaks of red. They are delicious and sweet, somewhat fruity in flavor, and are meaty with very few seeds. Indeterminate. 85 days. Click Here for Large Quantity Pricing.
Paul Robeson Tomato - One of the best black heirlooms. Brick-red to black fruits with a smoky, sweet flavor! Vigorous, indeterminate plants bear 7-10 oz beefsteak type fruits which are great for slicing, salads and sandwiches. One of our staff's all-time favorites and enjoys a cult following amongst seed savers. 78 DAYS.
The Great White tomato is a beefsteak type of heirloom tomato that is amazingly meaty, while being incredibly juicy at the same time. Described as sweet, juicy, kind-of citrusy and “almost impossible to describe”, one producer describes the flavor as reminiscent of fresh cut pineapple, melon and guava, all at one time.
