CHARLES HAMELIN Age: 29. Charles has competed in the 2006, 2010, and 2014 Winter Olympics.  He has also competed many times in the World Championships. In Torino 2006, Hamelin was the youngest member of Canada’s men's short track team competing at the Olympics, where he finished fourth in his only individual event, the 1500m. As a member of the 5000m Relay Team, he won his first career Olympic medal, a silver. Other highlights are available through this link.

Chun used to be the coach of the Canadian short-track team. Both men and woman began competing in short track speed skating in 1992. Annie Perreault became one of the most decorated female Winter Olympians that Canada has ever known by winning the 500m gold medal in Nagano and teaming up with Isabelle Charest, Tania Vicent and Christine Boudrias to win a bronze medal in the 3,000m relay.

Short Track Speed Skating originated in Canada and the United States in 1905. In 1988 it made its Olympic debut as a demonstration event at the Calgary Winter Olympic Games. Full medal status came in 1992 at the Albertville Winter Games.
