Few Steinberg's stores were opened during the Second World War. This one opened on Verdun Ave corner 6th Avenue, replacing a smaller size store across the street. The store opened in May 1941. This was one of the first stores with automated doors and a "Steinberg's terrazzo". It was at the time a state-of-the-art supermarket. I did go to this store many times as my uncle worked there.
