Ten Massive Extinctions

Top 10 Mass Extinctions - Listverse

Life is a struggle for survival. Animals live under constant stress to obtain enough food to eat by being as well adapted to their environments as they can. Animals who are poorly adapted will, in times of hardship, starve, fail to reproduce, and eventually die out completely. Throughout Earth's history, life has constantly been taking new forms which are immediately tested for survival. When the climate or environment changes drastically, many animals who are poorly adapted for their new…

Ediacara approx. 550 million years ago Complex life starts to evolve. In the background are some frond-shaped Charnia. Nearby on the left are three Swartpuntia. The three white jellyfish-like organisms on the seafloor are Dickinsonia. On the seafloor are some sea anemone-like nemiana which may have had tentacles for catching food particles. In the foreground is a Kimberella, feeding on the bacterial mats by scratching with its proboscis. Another can be seen further back on the left.

There are three main types of rocks: igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic. Rocks can change from one type to another through a process we call the rock cycle. Rocks are constantly being formed, worn down, and formed again. This process can take a long time - thousands, or even millions of years. NOTE: Our Rio Vista Spelling Bee is tomorrow. Remember to study your words! Today's homework: 1. Math Miss W: p. 333-334. Mr. Spaulding: p. 377-378 2. Fluency "Surviving the Storm." 3. Read for half…
